 presented International Festival

 ‘Days of Russian Culture in Baden-Baden’.

 

2012 is the Year of Russia – Germany as agreed by both the Russian and German Governments.

 

 

First International Festival ‘Days of Russian Culture’

Baden – Baden, Germany, April 14 -19, 2012

 

From April 14 to 19, 2012 in Baden-Baden (Germany) and Strasbourg (France) experienced the First International Festival ‘Days of Russian Culture’.  These events were opportunity to showcase the finest examples of diverse Russian art. The Festival’s rich program consisted of different events.   These performances took place in the finest concert halls, cinemas, museums, cathedrals, universities and conservatories.  Also included were outdoor arenas that in the past hosted outdoor symphonic and chamber concerts, ballet, opera and drama performances.  There have also been film screenings and creative meetings, workshops and presentations, exhibitions, children's and youth programs, meetings with teachers and students of Slavic studies taking place in German Universities and other interesting events taking place in various locations.

 

FESTIVAL ‘DAYS OF RUSSIAN CULTURE’

OPENING CEREMONY

 

April 14, 2012. At the Great Hall of the Kurhaus in Baden-Baden was held opening ceremony of the 'Days of Russian Culture'.  The celebrated event was held under the auspices of the International Symphony Orchestra Capella ‘Tauris’ (St. Petersburg) under the patronage of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.

 

Leading the opening ceremony Meritorious Artist of the Russia, Igor Vernik and Meritorious Artist of Russia Maria Shukshina represented the famous artistes of the gala concert.

 

The program was attended by a large number of well-known Russian artistic groups representing Russian culture.

 

These included acknowledged masters of Russian culture and art, masters of opera such as

 

Gerello Vasily Georgiyevich.  Opera singer, baritone, soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre, People's Artist of Russia, Merited Artist of Ukraine. Pudova Olga.  Winner of National and International competitions, soprano, soloist Academy of Young Singers of the Mariinsky Theatre. Knyazev Alexander. Russian cellist, organist and others.

 

The welcome on behalf of the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation A. A. Avdeyev was read by Mr. P. V. Khoroshilov,

Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation:

 "I sincerely hope that the festival program, supported by the Ministry of Culture, will be a worthy continuation of the cooperation between our countries in the field of culture and will open new opportunities for creative interaction for many years to come.” 

 

Russian Culture Week opened with the screening of People's Artist of Russia Karen Shakhnazarov’s film ‘The Vanished Empire’.

 

The opening day was marked by the Festival’s ceremony for the International Award ‘Tree of Life’s outstanding figures of Russian culture. One this occasion the prize was awarded to the Director of the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow, Honoured Art Worker of Russia,

Irina Antonova and the renowned Soviet and Russian diplomat

Yuri Dubinin.  

 

Soviet and Russian theatre and film actor, producer, radio and television personality, musician, Igor Vernik and Russian actress and TV presenter, Maria Shukshina conducted a concert and awards ceremony.

 The award was presented by the Permanent Representative to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Diplomat, Ambassador, Ms. Eleonora Mitrofanova.

 

The festival program included a number of creative meetings with prominent figures of Russian culture, performances and the participation in the concert programs such stars as:
