Mikhail Golikov. Art director and chief conductor of Capella «Taurida».
Mikhail Golikov is the art director and chief conductor of Capella «Taurida». He was born in Leningrad on August 12, 1980.
He finished the Music High School at the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory. He graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory as a choir conductor in 2003 (professor S. N. Legkov’s class) and as a symphony and opera conductor in 2009 (professor V. S. Sinajski’s class).
In 1999 he started “The St. Petersburg Voices” youth chamber choir and became its art director. The choir became laureate of numerous international and All-Russia music competitions.
From 1999 till 2005 he was the chief conductor of the choirs of St. Petersburg State Eklectrotechnical University and of the St. Petersburg State Technological University.
Since 2004 he has been fruitfully cooperating with the philharmonic orchestras of Tambov and Petrozavodsk. Also, he is the chief invited conductor of the Governor’s Symphony Orchestra of the Irkutsk Philharmonic.
From 2001 till 2006 he taught at St. Petersburg State University of Culture and Arts.
In 2003 he taught solo and choir singing at Maurice Bejart Ballet School.
From 2009 till 2012 he taught at M. P. Mussorgsky St. Petersburg Music College. Also, he was the art director and chief conductor of the Student Symphony Orchestra of the college.
Mikhail Golikov is the organizer of various educational programs and master-classes in Russia and abroad. He actively popularizes classical music among children and young adult audience. He is a laureate of the First A. A. Jurlov International Conductors Competition (2001, Yekaterinburg) and the Fourth All-Russia Conductors Competition (2002, Salavat). He was awarded the special prize of the St. Petersburg Government for staging two performances for children (2005).
At present he is the art director and chief conductor of Capella «Taurida» actively performing both in and outside Russia. Together with the Capella’s collective he gives concerts in the most prestigious concert-halls of Austria, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Russia and France. He is the director of the student symphony orchestra of the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory as well as the art director and chief conductor of the orchestra of the St. Petersburg State Philharmonic for Children and Youth.
Mikhail Golikov is an extraordinary person, an enthusiastic experimenter, a true professional. His artistic talent and emotional performance impress such prominent scientists and culture activists as Zhores Alferov, Irina Bogacheva, Lyudmila Verbitskaya, Elena Obraztsova, Sergei Slonimsky, Igor Butman, Francis Goya and many others.
His favorite composers are Johannes Brahms, Peter Tchaikovsky, and Sergei Rachmaninoff.
He is a football fan.
He is single, he has a daughter.
